Hey! I’m Matthew Harper’s friend, Caren. We’ve been friends since we were freshmen in high school, so that’s... a lotta years! He’s been through a lot in those years, but now, he’s facing a situation where he needs our help!
Matt developed Perthes disease as a kid, and as a result, the head of his right femur was malformed & doesn’t fit into the hip socket well. He’s experienced pain for many years because of this which has been mostly manageable, but it’s at a point now that he can no longer continue to work.
He has hip replacement surgery scheduled for April 20th, and needs money for several reasons to help him through this time.
First, in order for him to even get the surgery, he needs $1100 for the surgery downpayment, up front. He desperately needs this surgery, in order to walk pain-free, and continue working once he’s recovered.
Just as importantly, he needs funds to replace his job earnings so he can pay his household bills and still eat - now and throughout the recovery time. If you know Matthew, you know he feeds the feral kitties in his neighborhood. He would choose to go without food himself in order to keep those kitties fed, so I want to make sure everyone in his household is cared for.
Matthew is a very special human being. He’s very caring, and he uses his excellent wit to ensure people around him are laughing, through good times & bad. I know he has many people who care for him; let’s band together to give him this gift of surgery and a future of much less pain.
