Six weeks ago, I fell and injured my left foot. Because I am diabetic, I developed a diabetic ulcer that spread into the bone. I was admitted to the hospital, and doctors had to amputate the top part of my left foot, including part of the bone. This has been a difficult and life-changing experience, and I am still adjusting to the challenges of recovery.
While I am receiving temporary disability, it is much less than what I was earning before. This drastic reduction in income means I am struggling to keep up with my car payment, insurance, rent, and basic bills. I am doing everything I can to apply for full disability, social security, and my small pension, but these processes take time. I am reaching out to my friends and community for help, as I don't know what else to do. Any support you can offer will help me get through this tough time.
