Help Matthew Rebuild His Life and Art

Donation protected
Hello Friends,

Somewhere during this last summer, our dear Matthew began talking about symptoms of psychosis. Reaching out for professional and family help, he received medication and love, but thereafter, quickly spiraled into another, very unstable place. Three months later, his life has unraveled and his body is broken.

Matthew is now in a skilled nursing facility in Oregon, healing from broken neck and leg bones after a fall from a tree. He is stabilizing on medication for acute psychosis.

There is a lot of medical and legal work to do. And we need to rule out that this mental health crisis is not the result of a tumor or similar. He is facing charges in two states for being mentally distressed in public, creating dangerous and harmful situations as a response to wild callings from "the universe."

Now that he’s in the capable care of nurses and family, we are working to stabilize his mental and physical health. It is hard to set up a working pottery studio, and he is worried about losing his life's work. We have capable hearts and hands, but we do need to figure out money now.

Matthew is overwhelmed with sadness. If you have not heard from him, this is why. Know that he is trying to process things he can’t remember, and he is working hard to understand how he got here.

I’m collecting support from his friends and community for his Mom to manage for him. His Dad and I will serve as authorizers to keep the books transparent and in the best interests of Matthew's complex situation while he recovers.

Doctors are estimating a six-month recovery period just for the physical injuries he is dealing with.

Thank you for anything you can contribute, but please do not put yourself out. Matthew is not excited about asking for help or burdening anyone and he wouldn’t want people to over-extend.

I am Matthew's Oregon-based cousin, and I am happy to answer any questions. THANK YOU!
