Help Matthew Grimston Heal

Donation protected

Hi everyone,

Firstly, I'd like to introduce myself: My name is Curtis Leyenaar, and I am proud to say I am a close and dear friend to both Matthew Grimson and Haley Lupichuk, for whom I am setting up this GoFundMe page.

We have all been surprised and deeply saddened to learn of Matt's Brain tumor late last week. A serious condition with a lot of unknowns. Last Friday Matt fell ill, the symptoms were serious and Haley took Matt to get medical attention which
concluded he had a brain tumor. Late Friday evening Matt was rushed off to Victoria Hospital where medical staff performed an MRI and he was put into an induced coma, he is still there today getting the professional attention needed to figure out exactly what he is up against.

This brings us to the present situation and the challenges that Matt and Haley now face.
What can you do to help? Please donate to help relieve some of the burdens they are facing.
This money will help to cover medical expenses, Matt doesn’t have extended medical to cover medical bills. These funds will also help the family afford to stay by Matthew's side through all of this in Victoria.

Donations of any amount will be appreciated and we will be updating Go Fund Me during his recovery.

Thanks for reading through this. Please donate what you can.

**** Update **** March 29th
The Family wants to let everyone know that the staff has allowed Matthew to wake up, he is no longer sedated and has had breathing support removed. He is now resting while we wait for Pathology to determine a course of treatment.
Please continue to respect the family's wishes, avoid calling and visitors to the hospital at this time

***UPDATE*** April 1st -
We have received the results from Matthew’s biopsy. It hurts me to say that, unfortunately, the tumour is cancerous. This means that our next step will be taking on Matthew’s treatment, which will consist of radiation and chemotherapy. Matthew’s treatment will be based out of Victoria for the foreseeable future. While Matthew is touched and very grateful for the outpouring love and support, he is shocked and overwhelmed to learn of this news that has turned his life upside down. Matthew‘s family hasn’t left his side and will continue to do so as we process and navigate this long journey ahead of us. The love and support we have received from family, friends and our community is so beautiful and we couldn’t be more thankful. Please continue to keep Matthew and his family in your thoughts and prayers.

***UPDATE*** April 19th
Hey everyone,
Just wanted to give an update on Matthew. We have been attending all of the appointments and tests required to prepare for Matthew to begin his treatments. Matthew is tired but doing his best to be strong and keep going. We greatly appreciate each and everyone of your messages, it is a very important part of Matthews strength and well being right now. We very much want to thank all of you again for the continued love and support that we are receiving. We feel blessed to be apart of such a wonderful community. It is just the beginning of a long journey for all of us, so, please continue to keep Matthew and his family in your thoughts and prayers.
