Join Matthew’s fight for brain surgery

My name is Alyssa, Matthew’s mom, and I am setting my pride aside one last time and reaching out for help for my son. We have had to do this once before when we took Matthew to Houston last year, and we wouldn’t have been able to do it without your help.

Matthew has an arachnoid cyst in his left frontal lobe of his brain that has grown quite a bit since he was first diagnosed in 2021.

The cyst is located in an area responsible for cognition and behavior, and it has grown and is now putting pressure on his brain. He was recently diagnosed with an intellectual disability and suffers from chronic migraines, emotional outbursts, and is unable to regulate his emotions. He’s been diagnosed with ADHD, sensory processing disorder, anxiety, adjustment disorder, developmental delay, and a speech delay.

I have been advocating and fighting for Matthew to receive the care that he needs for years. Last year, we traveled to Houston for a second opinion, with no solution.

This will be our THIRD opinion, our last resort. Boston Children’s Hospital has a team that focuses specifically on the type of cyst Matthew has. They offer second opinions from out of state for $900. They even offer genetic testing to find the cause of the cyst and see if it is contributing to the symptoms that Matthew is having. Getting him seen at this hospital could be life-changing for Matthew.

I have listed the links below if you would like to familiarize yourself with the type of cyst Matthew has and how his cyst has contributed to all of his other issues.

Matthew desperately needs to have his cyst removed to improve his quality of life. Finding a doctor who actually hears what I’m saying and sees Matthew and all of his diagnoses has been no easy task. Being in the medical field, I know how easy it is to look at scans and numbers and not bother looking at or listening to the patient. Matthew is falling through the cracks, and it’s breaking my heart.

Any and all donations will be used specifically to get a final opinion and will go directly to Boston Children’s Hospital. Anything extra will be used for travel expenses to get us to Massachusetts.

If you are not able to donate, please share Matthew’s story and pray that we find a doctor who will see him, who will hear him, and who will help him. Thank you so much.
