Hello, hello! My name is Matthew B. Cullen (he/they, él/elle). I am a theatre director and creative producer born in Bogotá, adopted, now living in New York City. My work has taken me from the world of indie theatre to Broadway (just once as an intern) and practically everywhere in between.

Producing has provided the agency for me to make space to generate theatre without waiting for the approval of others . The last few years of my indie producing has been attached to myself as an individual rather than any company or entity. As my producing work progresses and the money slowly increases, I want to create a clear separation for myself from the liability and the financials. Forming an LLC to house my producing pursuits creates that separation.

My producing work covers a wide range from assisting, consulting, and leading projects. This LLC would specifically cover any projects that I am leading while they are in the development stage specifically. The LLC would not have any role or overlap in my consulting and assisting work.

It costs ~$600 to form an LLC in New York State. Admittedly, $600 is not a huge amount on paper. However, the unsteady income of freelancing in New York City has not allowed me the financial freedom to save this amount which is why I have put together this GoFundMe.
