My name is Cassie Campos, and I am the mother of Matthew, a 13-year-old boy with severe, nonverbal autism. For years, I have followed every recommendation from doctors and specialists. Matthew has participated in ABA therapy, speech therapy, occupational therapy, neurological evaluations, and other traditional treatments available through our insurance. I have always done everything possible to provide him with the best care and opportunities for growth.

After years of following conventional medical approaches, I am hoping to explore care from a neurological development medical specialist that may provide new insights into Matthew’s health and development. This physician has recommended comprehensive evaluations, advanced laboratory testing, and genetic testing. Before creating this fundraiser, I reached out to several nonprofit organizations seeking financial assistance for Matthew’s care. Unfortunately, I was informed that most programs offering support for this type of treatment are limited to children under the age of 10, so the nonprofit organizations can only help kids under 10 years old, making Matthew ineligible for assistance. At 13 years old, Matthew has aged out of many assistance programs, but his needs have not disappeared. Because these services are not covered by insurance, we must pay entirely out of pocket.

As a mother, I am simply trying to leave no stone unturned in helping my son reach his fullest potential.
