Help Matt Wright Rebuild After Devastating Fire
Donation protected
Our friend Matt Wright had his barn / home burn to the ground night before last.
Matt has lost everything, including his insulin, clothes, gloves, boots, shoes, food, furnishings, wool/fiber processing equipment, power & hand tools, equipment, animal care supplies, waterproof feed containers, waterproof tool storage, feed, livestock shelter, fencing etc.
It is baby season and shelter is the greatest need.
We hope to raise enough to get shelter building supplies for his sheep, goats, the much loved donkey Tito and a feed storage / workshop area built. The $14,000 goal is not enough but will buy some tools, meds, feed and get something built sooner.
Many of us close to home pulled together emergency clothes and some feed plus did a work day to clear some debris and emergency fence mend. There will be another work day but need materials and supplies.
The sheep & goats & Tito the magnificent donkey need shelter ASAP!
Matt just wrapped up with kidding goats: 4 born since the fire. Total of 10 babies born, 2 lost and 8 healthy for now, 2 of those on a bottle.
Matt just starting lambing (sheep) with first healthy twin lambs on the ground this morning (March 5). 9 more ewes expecting in March and April.
Matt will need money to move forward. We are asking you to please donate what you can. $850 can get a ShelterLogic 12 ft. x 20 ft. x 8 ft. Equine Storage Temporary Shelter or building supplies to serve the same need. Feed is $24 a bag. Even $7 gets a halter for handling the goats and sheep. No idea how much it will cost to replace his living quarters or 6 stall working barn/shop. Right now we just need to focus on getting enough $ to build something for the animals.
Again, though, whatever y'all do will be much appreciated. Nothing gets wasted.
Please post this fundraiser and forward it on❤️
Update:
Health insurance offered no coverage or assistance and out of pocket costs so far have been $437 with $124 covered by The Red Cross. Matt is facing over $600 in further costs before insurance will kick back in later this month. Many have donated insulin and other supplies but the specific pump and monitoring system supplies he uses are expensive and difficult to source.
