- I
Hello, I'm Matt. I've been unemployed since the start of the Coronavirus pandemic. I currently live in Somerville MA, but my last job was remote work with University of Maryland: College Park. I applied for benefits (and got them) but there was an error with processing and now the state is asking for $4000 back that I do not have.
I cannot receive benefits until this has been paid or resolved and I have not been able to reach the department in question despite multiple calls and emails asking about this issue.
This money is important to me because I need it to pay rent/bills while I try to keep looking for a job in my field. I have a small amount of money left to keep me going, but that is running out and I am not sure what else to do.
The money raised here would go directly to the overpayment case, with any extra going towards my rent and bills that I have while I actively search for a new job. I have been actively searching, submitting resumes to recruiters and directly to different companies with varying degrees of success.
The help here will give me peace of mind and allow me to keep searching without anxiety and fear, while also keeping my feet on the ground. I normally dislike asking for help like this, but I am genuinely unsure what options I have left.
