Help Matt Through Cancer Recovery

Hello, my name is Matt Armitage. Many of you know me from friend groups, family, or the OWBN LARP/Org. Early in May of 2025, I was diagnosed with cancer, colon cancer to be specific. This came as a pretty big surprise given that I am 36 and have always felt pretty healthy. It has been a nerve-wracking journey so far, but I am happy to say that my prognosis is good and I have surgery scheduled for June to identify if the problem has/can be remedied, and how.

The surprise of it all has left me more down on my luck than I would like. I will be taking a full month off of work to recover from the surgery, and while I am attempting to file for Short Term Disability, I won't know if I qualify or for how much until post-surgery, when I would need the funds.

Toss onto that the promise of my doctors and team that I will 'absolutely hit my deductible this year' means I am likewise going to be out somewhere between 5-10K in medical debt (depending on how my insurance covers and handles a few things).

So! I am turning to my network of friends, family, and acquaintances for some help! I have donated to GoFundMe's in the past, even helped manage one for a friend's hardships before. I can't say I ever imagined I would need one myself, but here I am with a hand out asking for any assistance you might be able to give.

Really, truly, I appreciate anyone's time and attention to my situation. I have had friends offer to cook me meals, walk my dogs, and more while I am stuck on recovery time, and I plan to create a Google sheet for sign-ups which would be an amazing way to contribute to my situation without donating a dime.
