Help Matt recover from Hurricane Ian

Hello, this page is brought to you by Cheryl and Mike Lynch. We created this page to help Matt Ficarra with his devastating losses from Hurricane Ian.

Mike and I met Matt a year ago when our friend told us about Matt's wheelchair-accessible business. My husband, Mike, is a retired Syracuse police officer who suffers from MS after a tour in Vietnam. Due to Mike's condition, he uses a wheelchair. Since we met Matt, we have become very close and have had a wonderful time getting to know him and enjoying his wheelchair-accessible boat.

Matt also uses a wheelchair due to a tragic accident in 2011 that left him paralyzed from the chest down. Instead of becoming a victim, Matt has thrived in life, business, and his ability to motivate, inspire, and help others. Matt is the founder of a non profit organization in Central New York that raises money for members of the community that also deal with the challenges of spinal injuries. His most recent endeavor has been moving to SW Florida, buying a duplex and a boat, renovating them both to be wheelchair accessible (out of his own pocket), and starting Access Boats and Homes, his company that provides accessible vacations for those in need. Matt was thriving, helping put smiles on numerous faces until September 28, 2022 happened and Hurricane Ian came to town.

Matt's home, business, vacation rental property, boat, personal belongings, and more were destroyed due to Hurricane Ian's strong winds, flooding, storm surge etc. Despite losing everything, Matt’s focus remains on others in need in the community as he has been driving around Cape Coral and Fort Myers delivering food, water, and fuel to those in need.

In order to continue running his business, live life, and continue following his passion of helping others with disabilities, he will need a new roof, boat lift, dock, windows, flooring, kitchens, bathrooms, etc. Everything he has worked so hard for over the past 11 years was just taken from him. Please help us raise the money he needs to compensate for deductibles and what insurance won’t cover.
