Break a leg they said! Help on my road to recovery

Hi all. My name is Matt, aka fireincairo. You may know me as the happy guy smiling and trying to spread joy through my silly and thirsty TikTok and instagram videos.
On March 16th, 2023, I unfortunately suffered a very significant injury from a skiing accident.

The joy and shame of a free ride down the emergency sled.

I am expecting a long road to recovery with multiple surgeries, hospital admissions and at this point, uncertainty about what my long term recovery and function will look like. With two surgeries down and an uncertain number more to go, I am left with the dread every American feels when faced with the healthcare system: how the heck am I going to pay for all of these medical bills?

Stage 1: fasciotomy and external fixation
The expenses are varied, from surgery and operating room fees. consultant charges, bills for inpatient stays, outpatient physician visits, outpatient therapy and home health: it’s endless. I’m fortunate to have a supportive group of friends, family and followers who encouraged me to create a gofundme to help cover my expenses. My insurance is a high deductible plan and the out of pocket expense before insurance kicks in is quite expensive.
I’m also uncertain when I’ll be able to make it back to the gym. If you know anything about me, that’s a huge part of my life. I may be unable to bear weight on my affected leg for a very long time which will make getting in and out of my apartment (and therefore the gym) extremely difficult. I have multiple flights of stairs with no elevator so I’d love to buy some equipment to be able to continue working out on a modified basis. I could easily do some upper body workouts in my apartment with the right equipment while I recover.
Whether you chip in or not, thank you so much for stopping by and hearing my story!
Love,
Matt
