For Matt, Marian Bell-Jaeger's brother

Matt is a disabled Marine Corps veteran and Marian Bell-Jaeger's brother. After working hard and saving enough to buy a piece of land of his own, Matt was living in his RV while keeping his memories and belongings in a 15-foot trailer. On Wednesday, August 12, 2026, both the RV and trailer burned down to ash. The fire chief believes the cause may have been a lightning strike or mice chewing on wires. In one devastating moment, Matt lost not only his home, but nearly everything he owned, including his medications, medical equipment, Marine Corps medals, the flag that draped his grandfather’s coffin, and both his Marine Corps and Clan Bell kilt.

Right now, Matt’s most urgent needs are a safe place to stay at Hotel 6 in Canyon City, gas to get to and from the burned RV and to the local VA facilities, food for himself and his service dog, Joe the Mastiff, and clothing to replace what was lost. Once those immediate needs are covered, he can focus on figuring out his next steps and finding a new place to live. Matt is a combat Marine from Gulf I assigned to 3/1 India Company, someone who has always shown up for friends in need and understands the heavy mental strain that veterans can carry. Now he is the one who needs support. If you are able to give, please consider helping Matt through this heartbreaking loss. Any kindness, prayers, or donations will be a true blessing.
