Hi, I’m Matt. Up until recently, I ran the gaming and esports division at a very large global sportswear manufacturer who you’ve definitely heard of. About a year ago, I got Leukemia. And for a while we thought it was improving, but then it came back. So I’m going to be out of the job I love for quite a bit of time, and I need to figure out a way to stay connected to the industry without driving myself crazy.
The good news: I have a killer idea.
I’m going to teach you everything I know about esports merchandise. I’ll physically tear up garments on Twitch streams so you can see how they are put together. I’ll create sneak previews of merch drops so you can plan your Con funds accordingly. I’ll tell you about the business of merch, and why it matters, and what goes into a successful launch.

- Graphics and branding
- Upgraded workspace/studio
- Editing software
- Samples
Whatever funds I don’t end up using will be donated to BeTheMatch.org, a non-profit marrow donor registry that has literally saved my life.
If this project is funded, it will give me purpose. And I don’t want to get all sappy in my pitch to you, but what I need you to understand is that yes, I’m doing this because I know a lot of people are interested in this kind of content, and I’d love to provide it to them—but much much more than that, this project will help me heal. It will be my proof that I can overcome death by sheer force of will. It will show me—and maybe all of us—that there are some things cancer can’t take away.
But also, esports merch is cool, and I think there should be more cool content about it.
