If you’ve ever met Matt, you’ve been swept away by his warm smile, bear hugs, roaring laughs and deep voice. What you may not know, is that at the end of 2020, a few weeks before Christmas, Matt was diagnosed with leukemia. The news that no one is ever prepared to hear.

Matt is a loving husband to Kristin (the most supportive and kindest partner), father of three adorable children (Camilla-8, Chole-4, Andrew-3), and an amazing son, brother, friend, and colleague. He’s known for his passion for movies, healthy stubbornness, and sought-after tech and digital media production skills which have helped to bring news, live sports and powerful creative content to millions of people. He is also known for his tireless enthusiasm and for being an amazing advocate for his teammates.

Since the diagnosis, Matt has been fighting with every ounce of bravery and strength to eradicate the leukemia from his body. While he was able to receive a bone marrow transplant in May (a matching donor was found in Israel) that eliminated the cancer from his blood, unfortunately, a few days ago Matt was informed that it has spread to small parts of his spine and brain.

This has been an incredibly difficult journey for Matt and his young family. Not only has cancer interrupted their lives but they have had to go through this time in complete isolation from friends and family in order to protect Matt and his compromised immune system. They have also made the difficult decision to home school this year to further protect Matt from any exposure to infections or illness as even a common flu can be devastating for a cancer patient.

They are now preparing to start another round of radiation treatment with the goal of once-and-for-all getting rid of the cancer. This latest hurdle comes just as Matt’s disability benefits are ending in September.

Here is where we come in. Matt needs your help! With disability ending and Matt as the sole income earner, he and his family can benefit from donations to help cover ongoing and increasing medical bills as well as extra expenses for educational supplies and virtual tutoring for the kids at home. All funds will go towards helping Matt and his family with these expenses and future needs as he continues his recovery.
