Hi everyone,

*UPDATE* since Matt doesn’t want to take the money I’m hoping he’ll agree to letting us help him get Luke cremated. 

I do not know Matt or Luke. This hit me hard… he doesn’t know I’m doing this, but I felt the need to help him in some way.

Unfortunately, yesterday, 8/5/26, Matt’s dog was approaching an off-duty retired cop who, sadly, for no reason at all, pulled his gun out and shot and killed Luke, Matt’s dog.

I know Matt is homeless, living in Yorktown, and that his dog is a big part of his life. For him to be taken so tragically, especially in front of him, is so horrible. I know that dog is what kept Matt going daily, and I’m an animal person. I know what that connection means. He already has it hard, and I’m worrying about his mental health.

Maybe we can all get together and help him get on his feet and maybe, when he’s ready, another dog. I’m heartbroken for him. If you can do anything, even a dollar, I’m sure he will be forever grateful.
