With incredible sadness, our dear friend, Matt Byrd (aka Byrd), lost everything when his apartment complex caught fire on January 6th around 3:00 AM in Sacramento. Thankfully Byrd was not home at the time. However, a neighbor walking by could see the flames going up the side of the building and called 9-1-1. Byrd received a call while at work, and once he returned home, he saw an incredible amount of smoke pumping out of his front windows.

Once allowed inside his place, Byrd noticed everything was covered in thick, oily soot and smelled horrible. The fire ruined Byrd's clothes, furniture, electronics, art, and many other things. After 13 years of living in his home, Byrd was suddenly without a place to call home and left to rebuild his life independently without warning.

Byrd is one of the most humble and caring people we know. He would give you his last dollar and shirt off his back if needed and without question. Byrd always puts others' needs before his own, and for that, we want to help him rebuild his life. We know no amount of money can compensate him for what he lost, but it is a start.

We know these are trying times right now; however, if you are moved by what happened to Byrd, please donate to help him rebuild. Any dollar amount is much appreciated, and we know he will be forever grateful. We have attached a couple of pictures and videos of what his place looked like once he was able to enter and a little of the actual fire that early morning; unfortunately, the damage is beyond repair, as you will see.
