Hello my name is Madeline Gosney and I am starting this fundraiser on behalf of my stepbrother Matthew Helms.

We need some help getting Matt his bionic leg so he can return to his favorite outdoor activities! Matt cut his foot while paddleboarding in September 2022, got COVID, and his body couldn't fight the lake bacteria that got in leading to necrosis of the foot. After saving the foot with several surgeries, a stomach bug turned to Sepsis, and a secondary foot infection while in the hospital, led to amputation. On his way to his 6 week appointment, he fell on the porch, causing another amputation revision. One more infection, caused his 6th and hopefully final surgery. He's now ready for walking rehab, but needs some help after being out of work Since September 2022. The first leg will cost about $13k after insurance, with his outdoor activity leg costing about $17k 3 months later. Insurance makes you do the two leg process. Help us get Matt back to work and back outside!
