Help Matt Birx and his family.

In September, Matt suffered an aortic dissection. After being life flighted to another hospital, doctors replaced his aorta with a graft and told him how lucky he was to be alive. He was doing well until he developed an infection around Halloween. He was treated with antibiotics and sent home after 2 weeks. The day Matt was going to have his blood tested to ensure his infection was gone, Matt asked his wife to call an ambulance as he thought he was suffering heart failure. His graft was infected. Doctors cracked his chest opened and drained the pus from infection and put him in a medically induced coma for a week. His chest was left open this whole time so it could be flushed out to ensure the infection was gone. Before Matt's chest was closed, his graft became detached and he lost a lot of blood. He had to have cpr preformed 3 times and was without blood flow to his brain for five minutes. His graft was able to be patched. His family was told he could die and might be brain dead. On 1/12/19 he recognized his name, opened his eyes and could follow commands like squeezing hands and wiggling his toes. On 1/15/2019 Matt will have to have his graft replaced because the infection was to much. All this medical attention has caused Matt to not be able to work and provide for his family and he could use some help. Matt has a very loving wife, Jacquelyn and a 15 month old daughter, Hannah who just wants her dad back.
