Help Matt beat Lymphoma

In early September, Matt went to Woden Hospital with significant swelling of his Lymph Node. After a large number of tests being probed and prodded. Matt was given the news he was dreading. He had Cancer and not just any cancer but a rare & aggressive form of Lymphoma.

 

Without even time to process the shock of his diagnosis, Matt was immediately started on Chemotherapy. He has just started his fourth round of chemo. However, this is just the start. Matt is scheduled to complete four months of intensive high dose Chemotherapy, with an additional four to six months of recovery. This dramatically limits his ability to work and support himself. Due to the nature of his illness, doctors have to intensively attack his Lymphoma, which means high doses, sometimes delivered over long periods of up to four days.

 

Those who know Matty will know he has faced this in typical Matt style 100% head-on. Matt is an amazing Dad to Eloise and Taylor, aged 6 and 10, who are getting very involved in his treatments and want to help in every way they can. But, of course, they are also apprehensive about their Daddy and want him to get better. I know Matt adores his beautiful girls. They are his everything, and this makes his struggles all the much harder. His close family and friends are doing everything to help him, but he needs your help. I know Matt feels he is a burden to us even though it is not valid, and we are more than happy to do whatever we can.

Matt is well known in hospitality around Canberra, having managed and worked in the industry for many years. Those of you who know Matt know that he has always gone beyond the call of duty for anyone he has worked with. However, I know he’s struggling with how he will support himself at this time with medical and living expenses. This weighs heavily on his mind and makes the struggle of dealing with Lymphoma much harder for him. So this is the reason I am setting up this GoFundMe campaign. I know Matt is too proud to do it himself, but I know any donations you make will help him get through what will be a challenging time.
