Help Matt Barry on his road to recovery
Donation protected
My son, Matt Barry, was in violent car accident over the Canada Day long weekend while returning home to Victoria, BC from camping in Tofino. His injuries are severe as he has many broken bones in his pelvis, legs, ankles and feet. Fortunately for all of us, his spine and brain were not injured so there is a high likelihood that he can return to his past life once he has healed and spent several months in recovery and therapy. You may know him from him growing up in Alberta or from the past couple years creating a career in masonry and building conservation work in Victoria - Matty intends to continue on this path but I can’t help him all on my own. This fundraising effort will cover some very specific needs:
Medical Transportation from Victoria to my home in Edmonton, Alberta.
Improvements to the accessibility of my home (it really isn’t set-up for this right now…)
Recovery of loss of my personal income for unpaid leave so I can continue to take the time to provide his care
Mobility and recovery tools and equipment
Professional physiotherapy, athletic therapy and strength training classes
Vocational training (in the unfortunate scenario where he cannot return to Victoria and resume his career in masonry)
He is a tough and determined man but is at a place in his life where his future successes will only be assured through both his dedicated work and the support from his friends, family and professional community. Anything that can be done for Matt and I will be truly and deeply appreciated.
I also want to take this opportunity to say thank-you to all the medical professionals in Tofino, BC and at the Victoria General Hospital for the excellent and compassionate care and support that Matt and I have received over the past week.
