Help Matt and Nora Through This Tough Time
Donation protected
Hi Everyone we are Christine Crow and Katelyn Ferreira writing on behalf of a good friend Matt Carney. If you know Matt you know an infectious smile, a hard working, selfless, all around great guy! A dedicated, loving father to his adored beautiful daughter Nora (9 years old). Never being one to ask for help, we insisted on helping him anyway we could during these trying times. He continues to stay positive and optimistic since his original diagnosis in 2022. We feel he could use a little weight lifted off of his shoulders. His main focus should be continuing his courageous battle while spending time and taking care of his Nora. That's where we need your help. Any contribution is so greatly appreciated and makes a huge difference. Please share, share away! Matt and Nora both deserve all of the love and support they can get at this time.

--> Here is a word from Matt and some more information regarding his diagnosis.
Hi Everyone!
Thank you so much for taking a moment to read this. I wanted to update you all on my cancer pathway. I was diagnosed in March 2022 with Rectal Cancer. I spent that year receiving 28 cycles of chemoradiation and 8 rounds of IV chemotherapy. 2023 started off with surgery to remove the primary tumor. Stage IIIB. I had a temporary ostomy placed and had that reversal surgery on May of 2023.
I've been under follow up surveillance and reportedly No Evidence of disease until my Scan in July 2024 picked up a mass in my right lung. PET Scan confirmed uptake in that area. Was sent to a thoracic surgeon. I had a right lower lobectomy in September 2024 a week before my 39th birthday. Pathology confirmed metastasis from primary tumor and margin status was unclear. Now Stage IV, oligometastatic. Restaging MRI's in November 2024 were benign
Thankfully went for a second opinion in October to Dana Farber which confirmed I had a positive surgical margin. I was sent for 6 weeks of lung radiation 30 cycles 12/4/24-1/16/25.
My last scans on 2/11/25 showed post radiation and surgical changes however concern for disease progression :(. I am going to Boston for a lung biopsy next week. More chemotherapy pending.
Medical bills and the cost of self advocacy has been a diagnostic challenge. Worried about being able to work full time being a single father as well.
Thank you all for reading my update, your support and lifting me up in prayer during this difficult time.
All my love,
Matt Carney
