Help Matt and Melissa Overcome Medical Crisis

Hi, my name is Contessia, and I’m reaching out for help on behalf of my dear friend & brother, Matt Pusch. At 45 years old, Matt is one of the kindest, most selfless people I know. Unfortunately, after an unexpected diagnosis of cirrhosis of the liver, his world has been turned upside down.

One day after his 45th birthday (September 1st, 2024) his wife, Melissa, noticed something was wrong when Matt began experiencing severe fatigue, unusual pain, bloating, and noticed that Matt was jaundice. She immediately took him to urgent care, and he was sent to the emergency room at West Florida Hospital. After undergoing tests, the heartbreaking news came—Matt was diagnosed with advanced cirrhosis of the liver. Since then, they have had countless doctor visits, more tests, and new medications.

Matt was adopted as a child and just recently after his diagnosis, they learned that Matt’s biological father and bio- grandmother had both passed away before their 40th birthdays with cirrhosis of the liver. Matt was born with a hereditary weak, fatty liver. The physical and emotional toll has been overwhelming, but Matt’s strength and determination continue to inspire everyone around him.

However, as his treatment progresses, the medical bills have started to pile up as well as living expenses. Both Matt and Melissa have been forced to leave their jobs. Matt currently requires round-the-clock care and a special diet. Matt’s bloodwork was normal in March of 2024 before he was put on a new popular medication for weight loss. His doctors believe the medication damaged the only “good” part of his liver. A liver transplant is the best chance for his recovery.

Matt and Melissa have been the “Somebody” to so many people in our community. As Matt was beginning to feel unwell, he was keeping the roads hot doing everything he could to fight the nationwide opioid crisis with Jamie’s Moms House. He has truly been the SOMEBODY to countless people. Our dude has never said no to anyone no matter what day or time and has NEVER passed judgement on anyone or their situation. Matt is a true child of God. These two incredible people are my heroes. If everyone were like Matt and Melissa, the world WOULD be a much better place.

Matt and Melissa would NEVER ask for help, so I am here to raise funds to cover the following expenses:

• Medical treatments, Medication and therapy ($10,000)

• Household bills and living expenses while Matt & Melissa are without income ($10,000)
