Help Matt and Marie Rebuild After Hurricane Helene
Donation protected
Hey I'm Matt, some of you may know me as Tetra. September 27th 2024 hurricane Helene hit my home with me, my partner Marie, our pets Atticus, and Luna, and her friend visiting from out of town woke up to a torrential downpour on the side of a mountain we lived on in bat cave NC, just upriver from chimney rock. As we were getting ready to try to prepare to find a way out a mudslide hit our house pushing it from the top left of the photo to where it sits now. Eventually got out of the house with our dog Atticus and had to leave our cat Luna behind. Somehow we made it farther down the mountain to a neighbour who wasn't hit as bad and had a propane generator and was generous enough to let us stay in their spare house till we were able hike down to the valley and get airlifted out Sunday morning. We're currently staying with family but we lost her vehicle, possibly mine(parked 3 miles down the road the night before when I walked home through downed trees). And all our belongings that didn't fit in 2 backpacks. We're not sure where to start with replacing everything but we're safe and alive. This is to help us get back on our feet and hopefully replace some of what we lost in it all.
