Hi everyone,
This is one of the hardest things we’ve ever had to write, but we’re at a breaking point and truly need help.
A few weeks ago, I (Matt) badly re-injured my knee trying to catch my wife, Angie, when she fell. It’s the same knee I had previously torn. I kept working through the pain, but eventually lost my job because I couldn’t move fast enough to keep up with my duties. Since then, I’ve been applying for jobs daily, had interviews, even applied for staffing agencies and temp jobs and applied for unemployment — but still no approval. I’m now waiting to see my orthopedic surgeon to find out what surgery I’ll need.
On top of that, I live with severe chronic depression and autism (lower end of the spectrum), and my mental health has taken a major hit. The neuropsychiatrist I was referred to isn’t covered by our insurance — it’s $1,000 out of pocket — and my recovery doctor costs $200 a month which i always paid myself until i lost my job. Without this care, I risk losing crucial treatment and stability and everything else I have until i get another job i have been trying so hard.
Angie is medically disabled with a progressive neurological condition that’s worsening under the stress. She has an important test on the 29th to figure out why her condition is declining so quickly. Seeing her health slide backwards again has been heartbreaking.
We’ve applied for every type of state and disability assistance possible — food, utilities, medical — but the shutdown has delayed or frozen many programs. We’re waiting on a utility help appointment (LIHEAP) on Nov 3rd, but right now, we’re struggling just to stay afloat, we cant even get groceries or basic necessities. We've even reached out to Churches to ask for help with no luck because so many people need help right now.
We’ve tried to stay strong and handle things ourselves, but we’ve reached a point where we can’t do it alone. Any help — a donation, a share, or even a prayer — means more than we can express.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for helping us through this difficult time.
With love,
Matt and Angie
