Help the Ruegseggers and their injured dog Anchor!

Donation protected

As many of you know from the recent posts on social media, our friends the Ruegseggers have suffered a real tragedy and are living an actual nightmare.  I, Chelsea Ruxton and Jennifer Puniello started this GoFundMe page to help them out through this trying time.

Matt was recently deployed to Georgia.  Amy and their son Lincoln went to Florida to visit her parents.  They asked close friends of theirs to watch over their kind dog Anchor while they were both away.

On Saturday, January 31st, Amy and Matt both received the most devastating phone call possible.  Both booked flights home immediately.  The person whom was watching over Anchor suffered an unexpected psychotic episode.  During this state Anchor was severely injured.  He was stabbed several times to the chest and abdomen.  He was rushed to the Weymouth VCA hospital.  Anchor suffered multiple penetrating wounds of which a few that actually penetrated his lung.  Anchor, underwent surgery, a lung resection (where a piece of his lung was removed).  He was intubated (breathing tube), ventilated, and had a chest tube, on oxygen, on a fentanyl drip (pain medication to keep him sedated) and intravenous antibiotics.  Anchor has a long road to recover.  But he sure is a fighter.  He will do everything in his power to get home to his family.  The latest update is, the chest tube and breathing tube have been removed, he is breathing on his own, he ate a small amount of chicken and rice and stood up for a short while.  All these positive signs point to Anchor coming home to his family soon!

Both families are suffering tragedy.  Amy and Matt’s friends whom watched Anchor, are also heartbroken over the devastating news.  This traumatic act is still not well understood, however it was the results of severe mental illness.  They too will have new obstacles and struggles to navigate through as a family.  Like Anchor this friend too will have a long road to recovery and health.

Please consider donating to help the Ruegseggers with this financial strain.  Any bit will help toward travel expenses, vet bills and the road to recovery.

If you choose to comment, please only positive uplifting comments.  Amy and Matt do not wish any negative thoughts to the other family, they only hope to create awareness for Mental Illness.

Anything over the goal will be donated back to the amazing surgeons and staff at the VCA and a cause that supports Mental Illness.

Thank you for the consideration.

Love,

Justine, Chelsea and Jen
