In the summer of 2021, my father Mats Tollbom was diagnosed with terminal prostate cancer. He has chosen to fight. Currently, he is undergoing rounds of chemotherapy and hormonal therapy, bravely alone at home. He will also be undergoing radiation treatment. His goal is to receive Dendritic Cell Immunotherapy from an institution in Marbella, Spain, which will cost 35,000 Euros (about 41,000 US Dollars). If you know this man like many of us do, his contagious excitement for life warms your cheeks upon witness. He's a brilliant craftsman, a man who's heart partially resides on the Lost Coast of Northern California, a Swede, born and raised, and a current resident of the whimsical Archipelagos island of Aland. He is more spirit than human and carries a soul with strength that is centuries old, yet with the energy of, as he likes to say, "a 16 year old boy flying by on his skateboard." This man is everything I want to be. He has fervently led a life outside of conventional norms, letting the ardor of the moment take him where he needs to go. Though my father and I have lived apart for the majority of my life, we have a bond that the shabbiest of cliche's speak to. If you can, help us to buy more time.
