The great sadness of our lives started exactly on Valentin’s day 2021 when many people around the world were celebrating this day. With symptoms such as short coughs, fatigue, and weakness, Matin alerted his parents to take him to the doctor. Basic tests were a sign of some kind of allergy, and even the pediatrician said that it is possible to be sensitive to pets, such as dogs or cats, but those who do not have any pet! Per his parents, additional tests and CT scans were performed and the result was announced on 02/14/2021.
Little Matin was diagnosed with lymphoma cancer, but the doctor’s doubts about the type of lymphoma cancer made all the tests uncertain and created a false hope that it might not be cancer at all. This uncertainly about Hodgkin's lymphoma or Non-Hodgkin cancer made them travel to his Dad’s home country during this Covid-19 pandemic.
Matin went through a Spinal Cord Test for the second time without anesthesia, because one of the large tumor was inside his chest that doctors did not accept the risk of anesthetized him. They did blood works and CT scans of the whole body, and finally, after about 25 days, the answer came: Non-Hodgkin cancer lymphoma!
I really cannot explain how much our hearts trembled and our hopes were dashed at that moment.
Matin was admitted to the hospital, and hoping to find medicine. Long story short he was there for the whole two months, and no treatment started.
Two months passed and Matin only received a pain killer and the only answer was: be patient, medicine will be arriving by the end of the week! Doctors strictly advised to don’t get anything from the black market because most medicines are expired. Last but not least Matin got covid in the hospital and everything got even worse.
Finally, his parents decided to go to Russia so Matin, and his little sister(Tina), and his parents went to Moscow. And for the third time, he went through blood works, spinal cord tests, and whole-body CT scans.
Results came back the same, but here they have medicine! Matin's breathing became more difficult, and his heart rate and general condition eventually reached a dangerous stage. Our little one went to CCU since his left lung brought fluid and doctors decided to insert a tube into his lungs to drain the fluid. Every moment for his parents, and us was like a nonstop nightmare.
Because Matin is considered a foreigner, not a citizen patient, they have to pay all bills.
Matin's condition improved, his lung fluid decreased, and hope was that his lungs would work again, and the kidneys did their best not to fail. This good news from my little friend made me so happy that I started dancing without a song.
