Help Matilda recover from emergency surgery
Donation protected
I am fundraising for a dear friend of mine, Chelsy Broderick, who has had a series of unfortunate events concerning her animals in the last two years. It started with Chelsy’s cat Zeke who became unexpectedly ill about two years ago. Sadly, even with emergency surgery and an incredible amount of at-home accommodations, Zeke was unable to overcome his illnesses. We knew Chelsy missed having an animal companion and convinced her to take her mom’s dog, Rooster, who was about 7 years old and a loyal companion for a young lady. Sadly, just months after he came home to live with Chelsy, Rooster had some health problems (advanced terminal cancer) and even after getting him emergency care he succumbed to his illness. This was the second animal Chelsy lost in a year’s time Then came Mattie. Miss Matilda to be exact. Mattie came to live with Chelsy earlier this summer and she is currently 5 months old. She has been an absolute joy and a wonderful dog. The perfect companion in fact. Mattie started showing signs of illness earlier this week. Chelsy knew something was wrong and immediately took her to the vet to get her checked out. There they found a multitude of issues that required emergency surgery. First was the rock she had eaten that they removed. Then they saw her uterus was inflamed, so that was removed as well. Then they saw the kidney. It turns out Mattie’s right kidney never fully formed the tube that connects her kidney to her bladder. They removed the right kidney along with about 3 liters of urine that were just floating around in her body making her sick. She came out of surgery like a champ and is at home resting now, thank goodness. It will be a long road towards recovery for Mattie physically, and for Chelsy financially. If you can donate to help ease the financial burden, please do. Chelsy loves Mattie so much and is so happy she home. Thank you in advance for any donation you can make!
