Help Matias Velasco

Hi, my name is Paul and on April 8th I witnessed a pickup truck flip on its side after being cut off by a reckless driver. After calling 911 and rushing to the scene, 4 others and I managed to flip the truck back over. To our horror, blood started coming out of the driver's side door. I ran around to the passenger side door, opened it, and started to pull Matias out when I noticed his arm was sliced open from top to bottom and his bone was no longer there. He was bleeding out. After laying him on the freeway I yelled for someone to give me a belt to use as a tourniquet which ceased the bleeding. When the paramedics arrived they said his vitals were very faint. I didn't know his name and when I left the scene I didn't know if he was going to make it. I made several phone calls to find out what hospital he was transported to, but due to privacy matters, I was not able to visit him since I didn't know his full name. I spent the next few days calling the hospital and pleading with them and finally a few days later the hospital called with Matias on the other line. He had survived but, unfortunately, his arm had to be amputated.

Matias has a long road to recovery and he has asked me to set up a Go Fund Me account so he can get back on his feet. He is a landscaper and every day that goes by he is losing income that he sends back to his family in Mexico. The money will be used to buy a used truck (the one in the accident was a total loss) as well as other items that were damaged.

He and his family are so grateful for your contributions. If you could kindly share this on social media it would also be greatly appreciated.

Much love!
