Hi friends and neighbors, I wanted to ask you for help for, Matias, Alvaro and Alicia Gomez's (Punta Banco) youngest grandson. Matias' mom, Aslin, lives in La Cuesta and is a single mother who works full time to give Matias the best life possible. Matias is funny, smart, and loves school. Matias has had problems with his eyes since he was a baby, and it's now affecting his learning in school. Matias cannot see out of one eye and he needs surgery ASAP. With insurance he can't get an appointment until 2027, and this is not acceptable. The surgery with a private hospital will cost $5000. Below is the explanation of his condition and more details, written by his mother. This community has helped many people I love to get the medical care they need, and I know this time will be no different. Thanks for your time and support!!
Matías is a 6-year-old boy who has a problem with his right eye (a cataract). Cataracts refer to the clouding of the eye's crystalline lens, the natural lens that helps us focus our vision.
This condition prevents light from transmitting clearly to the retina, which can result in blurred or cloudy vision, and Matías is currently affected by this condition.
Although less common in children than in adults, cataracts can have a significant impact on a child's visual development if not treated promptly.
Cataract surgery is the most effective treatment, where the cloudy lens is removed and, in many cases, replaced with an intraocular lens adapted to the child's eye.
The problem is that to carry out this surgery in the public medical area, Matías must go through a process of medical appointments, one of which is set for September of the year 2027 and he must be operated on as soon as possible. This can only be done soon if we transfer him to the private medical area, where the procedure has a cost of $5000 dollars.
