My name is Tunde Onakoya and I am raising this money for Mathew.

Mathew, one of our most promising chess students in Makoko got hurt two weeks ago in church whilst trying to help carry loud speakers in preparation for service. He suffered some damage to his spinal cord causing complete paralysis of his two legs as well as worrisome weakness of his diaphragm which is now affecting his breathing. He’s currently in critical life threatening condition and will require Neurosurgery immediately to save his life. It’s a very complex 50/50 situation and there’s a chance we may lose him if we don’t act fast. I drove him to Marigold hospital where I had my own surgery done recently and had to pay a million Naira in deposit before they could commence treatment. Now we need to raise about £20,000 circa 22 million Naira to save his life. We have already spent over 10 million Naira, roughly £9000 in 2 weeks and might need to remain at the hospital for 2 - 3 months. We know he requires long term support and we cannot even say if we need more money at the moment. He’s a great kid who still has his entire life ahead of him and he needs all of us now more than ever. I now carry a great burden in my heart for this kid.
