Hi everybody. Our loved one, Mathew, is in the middle of the Hurricane Helene crisis in Chimney Rock, NC. Mathew needs our help! His entire town has been destroyed by extreme flooding and high winds. Mathew watched as his whole street was swept away by a flood, taking homes, cars, and animals that could not get to safety in time. Mathew had to seek shelter with some of his neighbors until they were rescued by the National Guard after a long, tough journey to safety by foot with whatever belongings they could carry on their back. He was stranded on his hill for nearly three days with no electricity, service, or running water. Mathew had to leave behind his car due to most of the roads being wiped away by the storm and mudslides. Mathew is originally from Florida and has been living in Chimney Rock and Asheville doing travel work for about a year now. Anything helps! We are hoping that this fundraiser will help with relocation, recovery, and whatever else Mathew may need.
