Help Mathew James (Jammer)

Ex-Soldier and Cheltenham resident Mathew James needs our help. Mat, 48, has fallen on hard times recently and his carer Ruth Luffrum is looking for volunteers, builders and suppliers to give his maisonette in Warden Hill a bit of a make-over. Mat who served in Botswana, Kuwait, Cypress and Bosnia with the Gloucestershire regiment and United Nations peace keeping force.

When Mat left the army he worked Brockhill and cotswold hill quarry, as a barman at The Greatfield Pub in Hatherley as well as many years at Mira showers.

Mat was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis 17 years ago and has been medically retired since 2018, unfortunately due to a bout of depression Mathew had lost his way, since his carer has been helping he has picked himself up and is feeling much better. and life is much brighter for him . Mat needs his property to be more accessible now and for the future . 

As a young 12 year old Mathew ( known as Jammers) by his friends in Lydney, played rugby for Lydney Colts and Westbury on Severn .  Mathew also played in charity games raising money for help the heroes. He has also raised money for the Multiple Sclerosis society . 

Ruth Luffrum an old friend of Mathews has now become his carer and has decided to do all she can to improve his life and living situation. The future is looking bright for Mathew and hopefully with a little help from others we can give him a comfortable, accessible home to live in.

Mat's maisonette has become very run down , he needs new windows , doors, flooring, a new floor in the bathroom and kitchen, and the maisonette is very damp which affects his breathing.  Mathews garden needs to be made accessible too. 

If any of Mathew's old friends and colleagues would like to contribute towards Mat's fund , or volunteer to help with Tradesmen or handyman skills it would be much appreciated .
