Mathew is a skilled dirt bike rider, but on Monday July 28th, he suffered a traumatic brain injury when he crashed on the homestretch of his ride back to base camp. Every year the boys get together and head to the mountains of Idaho for 3 days of dirt bike riding, primitive camping, and bonding as family and friends. On their last day of the trip, Mathew crashed his bike and was slammed head first into a boulder. His hemet was cracked on impact, but potentially saved his life. He was transported to a trauma center in Boise via helicopter. He has a fractured skull, broken ribs, and a compound fracture of his left arm. Surgery was performed to put his arm back together with a plate and a handful of screws, but he has a long way to go for his brain injury.
Mathew was married to the love-of-his-life, Jazmin, in 2024. She lives in Mexico, and he works in the United States for Union Pacific Railroad, traveling back and forth between countries constantly. Jazmin is currently in Mexico and we are trying to get an emergency VISA for her to come be by his side. He has a very long journey of healing ahead, and they need all the help they can get. Funds will be used to cover medical expenses, lost wages, and travel/legal fees to get his wife here. The doctors don't know if it will be weeks or months yet, just that the journey will be long and hard.
