Help Mathew Fight Stage 4 Brain Cancer

Dear friends, family, and kind-hearted supporters,

My name is Jomet, and I live in Canada. I'm organizing this fundraiser on behalf of my sister, Jinu, and her husband, Mathew John, who are currently in India and facing the most difficult challenge of their lives.

On June 11, 2025, Mathew underwent emergency brain surgery at CMC Vellore, one of India's leading hospitals. The biopsy brought devastating news: WHO Grade 4 Astrocytoma, a highly aggressive and life-threatening form of brain cancer. His doctors have strongly recommended proton therapy - a highly targeted form of radiation treatment that offers the best hope of extending his life while minimizing harm to surrounding healthy tissue.

They are planning to proceed with this treatment at Apollo Hospital in Chennai, where proton therapy is available.

Unfortunately, this specialized treatment is not covered by insurance, and the total cost of proton therapy is approximately ₹35 lakh (around \$60,000 CAD). While the family has already shouldered the costs of the surgery and is committed to covering Mathew’s ongoing chemotherapy and physiotherapy, the expense of proton therapy is an overwhelming additional burden.

Mathew is a devoted husband to Jinu, a loving father to their 14-year-old son, and the kind of person who makes the world brighter simply by being in it. If you know Mathew, you know he is strong, bold, and full of determination. He has a deep will to fight—and your support can help him do just that.

This diagnosis has turned their world upside down. Jinu has had to take a leave of absence from her job to support Mathew full-time. Their family is doing all they can, with additional help coming from close relatives and friends, but the cost of proton therapy remains out of reach without broader support.

I will be personally withdrawing the funds raised here in Canada and transferring every dollar directly to Jinu and Mathew in India to cover:
