Hi everyone,

My name is Matheus, and what was meant to be the happiest chapter of my life quickly became the most challenging one.

I recently travelled overseas for the first time during my holiday break, full of excitement and plans to explore the world. While in Thailand, my trip took a tragic and unexpected turn when I was involved in a serious accident that changed everything in an instant.

As a result of the accident, I suffered a severe spinal injury to my T8 vertebra, which caused paralysis in my legs. I have already undergone emergency surgery to stabilise my spine, but at this stage, doctors cannot say how long my recovery will take — or if I will fully regain the ability to walk.

In addition to my spinal injury, I also broke my collarbone and three ribs, making even the simplest daily tasks painful and difficult. The road ahead will involve extensive rehabilitation and long-term physiotherapy as I work to regain strength, mobility, and independence.

This recovery journey will be long, physically demanding, and emotionally challenging. While I am grateful to be alive and determined to fight for my recovery, the financial burden of medical treatment, rehabilitation, physiotherapy, and ongoing care is overwhelming — especially while I am unable to work.
