Hi friends and family, my name is Matheus Milani Santos. I have been invited to the Brazilian Futsal Team associated with the World Futsal Association. I would like to take part in the World Championship that will be held in Tijuana - Mexico from November 28th to December 4th, 2023. To take part in this world championship, the Federation will cover all the costs of the trip, including hotel, food, transportation within the country where the championship will be held, clothing, and sports equipment. However, the cost of the plane ticket must be borne by the athlete. The ticket from Edmonton to Tijuana is around $2,000 CAD (R$ 7250 Reais), which is why I'm writing this.

I received this news on October 27th, during the provincial playoffs with The King's University. I was focused on helping my team and my teammates to win an unprecedented title, but we came third in the competition. The world championships will take place in a month and there is not much time to fundraise for this trip.

This trip and this experience will help with my leadership skills, as I will be around knowledgeable teammates and members of the coaching staff. I will be able to bring all this experience, learning, and leadership to The King’s University, as in the winter season the university will take part in the Futsal Championship in search of the provincial title.

Moreover, as a believer in Jesus, I am grateful for the fact that I have been called to defend my country's colors and for the opportunity to write this letter. Furthermore, while on Mexican soil, I will use my skills on and off the court to spread the love and words of Jesus. I want to glorify God through soccer and I'm grateful for opportunities like this to continue developing my skills and my love for God.

This will be the first time ever that a King's University athlete would be taking part in a world cup futsal championship.

Being a student-athlete, a very important factor is the academic part, so, during my stay in Tijuana, I will be able to continue attending classes online, where I will have access to the college portal and will be able to complete assignments normally. I will also inform the professors of my absence and will do my best to hand in homework and assignments on time.
