mateus is currently being held in ICE detention - far from family, and his comfort. After being set up when going to see his family after two very long months. He is not just a detainee. He is a son, a friend, a brother, and fiancé. He has been selfless to everyone around him. He is the type of person who gives a stranger his last penny. This past year specifically he has started building his life for the better— starting his own business as a barber, promotion at his job. Now, everything he has built is at risk.

Detention has taken away his freedom, it hasn’t taken away the type of man he is. Upon his first phone call with crying family members… he was making everyone else laugh as if he wasn’t in the position he was. He is still the same kind-hearted, determined person—just isolated, and fighting to hold onto hope. Imagine being 23 and not knowing when you’ll see your family again. Imagine waiting months when the biggest life events were supposed to be unfolding and then it’s all taken away within the blink of an eye.

Our family is doing everything we can to bring him home. We are fighting for him with everything we have—but the legal fees, communication costs, and ongoing expenses are overwhelming. We are asking, from one human being to another, for your help.
