Let’s help Mateo become independent
Hi Friends,
I’m reaching out for help on behalf of a friend who needs support from our community right now.
My friend Mateo is a kind and brave 19-year-old who is navigating life largely on his own. He is an unhoused trans man who hasn’t received support or understanding from family and those around his life.
He’s working hard to find a job and is actively applying to different places, but without the right resources, it’s been tough. Mateo is Deaf and has been using the same hearing aid for his right ear since second grade, but unfortunately, it’s now broken. His left ear doesn’t have a hearing aid at all. Despite these challenges, Mateo stays positive and hopeful about building a better future for himself.
I’ve seen firsthand how they’ve been trying their best to handle all of this. No one should have to go through life like this alone. I’ve been helping him take small steps forward. I recently got him a phone so he can stay connected, check emails, and apply for jobs or programs. We’re also working on getting him set up with Medi-Cal and food assistance, but those processes take time.
This GoFundMe is to help cover the cost of new hearing aids and give Mateo a bit of financial stability while he continues looking for work. Every dollar will go toward helping him meet his basic needs and access the tools that will make a huge difference in his independence and confidence.
If you’re able to contribute or if you have experience navigating government or community programs that could support Mateo, it would be incredibly helpful. Even the smallest contribution would mean the world.
& If you can’t monetarily contribute, please share this link with family and friends,
Thank you so much for your attention,
— Sunny
