I am raising money to help my sister, Sarah, and her family as their son, Mateo, has been diagnosed with leukemia and they now need to navigate the challenges of cancer treatment with a young family.

Yesterday, September 3, 2025, 2-year-old Mateo had a pediatrician appointment due to bleeding gums. The pediatrician suspected leukemia and sent them straight to Dell Children’s Hospital in Austin. After many labs and tests, Mateo was officially diagnosed with leukemia this morning. His blood and platelet levels were critical, and he has already received several platelet and blood transfusions. In the next few days, he will be undergoing several tests, operations, and starting chemotherapy.

Mateo’s father, Chris, works to provide for their family. However, now with the operations, Chris needs to take some time off work to support Mateo and care for Mateo’s big sister, Malayah. Malayah is not allowed to stay the night at the hospital, so Chris and Malayah will have to travel the 2-hour round trip between the hospital and home each day. All funds raised will go towards helping the family with medical bills, gas to get to and from the hospital, household bills during this time, and food for the family. All donations, big or small, are appreciated.

The family would also greatly appreciate prayers for Mateo’s healing from this horrible cancer. We have faith in Jesus and believe that there is power in prayer.
