My name is Máté Borsos. I grew up in Budapest, Hungary, and moved to LA over 6 years ago. I'm a postdoctoral trainee doing biology research on reproductive health and gene therapy at the California Institute of Technology.

The home I was renting in Altadena with 4 fellow students burned to the ground in the Eaton fire on the 8th of January, 2025. We managed to evacuate safely in time. I saved two bags of clothing and documents; the rest of my belongings turned to ash. I feel so lucky to be safe and my heart goes out to everyone else affected!

Please support and help me restart and find new housing as I work through this tragedy. Anything helps, and I cannot express how grateful I am for your help!
