Help Mat Get to Barber School
Donation protected
My name is Mat, and I'm a 32 year old trans man who is making a leap of faith into a new industry: barbering.
As a trans person, I know the importance of having representation behind the clippers that are cutting my hair. For many, a haircut is more than just a haircut. It can be a way for people to explore and affirm their gender, and I want to make another safe place in Eugene for that to happen.
But, in order to get started, in Oregon it is required to go to barbering school and get licensed.
I am looking between two schools. Each of them have their pros and cons, but ultimately each will be over $8,000 dollars out of pocket at least. In order to achieve this and still be able to keep a roof over my head, I will need to both be going to school full time and working full time -- so I am reaching out for help for some financial help during that time.
Any money that I get from this will go towards my tuition or towards barbering supplies. The 10k goal is due to card processing fees and taxes. I will also be documenting my journey on social media (Instagram handle tba), so you can see what your investment in me helped accomplish.
