Help Rakhi Navigate Loss and allow her grief

Our beloved sister Rakhi’s husband, Majid, unexpectedly passed away this Tuesday, May 21, 2024. He was a dutiful father and husband who was really struggling to cope with being in America as a PhD student.

They came here last year with big hopes and dreams: Majid as a PhD student and Rakhi and their child as dependents. However, life for newcomers is very hard, as we all know. Majid and Rakhi came here with large loans, which Rakhi now has to pay back.

It breaks my heart writing this today, but with the unexpected changes, her family is in dire need of financial support. Rakhi and Majid were working minimum-wage jobs, which were barely enough to sustain their lives here. Now that Majid is gone (May God bless his soul!), it’s very hard for Rakhi to manage all expenses, loan payments, and the grief she is enduring.

We have started this fundraiser to collect donations to support all their bills, rent, loan repayments back home, and all the costs that she is now responsible for.
