Our Kung Fu teacher, Master Derek Frearson, has dedicated his life to mastering and teaching the ancient art of Kung Fu since the 1970s, touching the lives of countless students with his wisdom, skill, and compassion. However, Master Frearson faces a significant challenge impacting his health, well-being, and ability to continue sharing his passion for Kung Fu with us.

The Challenge:

He has needed knee replacement surgery for several years now. He has opted to put it off because of his various martial arts organization duties (for example, Vice President of the International Seven Star Mantis Style Lee Kam Wing Martial Arts Association), his commitment to his students to continue teaching them and traveling the world to teach his students, as well as teaching their students at training camps and seminars. He still finds time to teach three free Tai Chi classes each week. He has taught over 2000 students this way in just the last year.

Master Frearsons’ continued commitment to his students has impacted his mobility. The surgery has become imperative as his knee impacts his ability to teach and share knowledge. As his students, we have been given the opportunity to carry on the Kung Fu Legacy, of which we are a small part. Master Frearson has always been there for us, teaching us not just about kung fu but also about life, perseverance, and the importance of facing challenges with courage and dignity. Now, it's our turn to stand by him. The funds we raise will help cover the costs of his surgery, hospital stay, rehabilitation, and any necessary medical equipment to ensure a full recovery.

This operation is crucial not just for alleviating his pain and suffering but also for his continued mobility, practice, and teaching of kung fu. The surgery cost, including post-operative care and rehabilitation, is substantial. As his students, kung fu brothers and sisters, and friends, we now have the opportunity to help Master Derek Frearson in his hour of need.
