My name is Cassandra and I am attempting to help my mom and step-father Mason to raise funds to pay for his cancer diagnosis and treatment. On the morning of October 26th, 2023 my mother called me and informed me of a heartbreaking diagnosis that she and Mason had just received. For the past two years, Mason had been feeling "off" but with a demanding job and no Paid Time Off he felt like he had no choice but to soldier on. Mason and my mother live a healthy lifestyle and exercise regularly. Despite their healthy lifestyle, Mason began to experience symptoms of chest pain, shortness of breath, and fatigue prompting them to seek medical help in September of 2023. A CT scan of his lungs displayed a large mass measuring more than 4 cm wide was found in his right lung. Initial diagnosis is Stage 1B Adenocarcinoma of upper lobe of right lung. He is still undergoing testing and scans to determine if the cancer has spread to another area of his body. On 10/30/2023, he underwent surgery to remove the portion of his upper right lung that contained the mass. He is also set to undergo Chemotherapy starting the week of January 22nd.
The funds received will be used to pay all medical bills from prior to his acceptance into a low-cost, experimental program at the Orlando Cancer Institute. The bills from the period prior to his diagnosis are currently totaling more than $20,000. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Please reach out to me with any additional questions.
With love,
Cassandra Arslan - stepdaughter of Mason Heflin
