Hello. My name is Mason (Blaire) Schmittauer, and I am writing to ask for a monetary donation to pursue a musical endeavor. Music has always been a large part of my life, and I have dedicated countless hours to learn more about my instrument and music in general. I am a member of the New Lexington High School Marching Band, the jazz band, and the West Muskingum Wind Ensemble Community Band. I have also participated in the Ohio University Honor Band, the All-Ohio State Fair Band, and the OMEA solo and ensemble competition where I have recently received a score of 1 (the highest score) on a class A piece (the most difficult level).

Recently, I applied to be a member of the All- American D-Day Band for 2025. This band accepts only 125 members across the nation and typically only accepts students in their junior year or older. I was accepted as a sophomore, and it is a huge honor to have this opportunity. This is an 8 day trip where I will travel to Washington DC, Paris, Normandy and a couple other places. I will get to play at the memorial services for the 81st anniversary of D-Day. This is an amazing opportunity for me to honor our veterans, and I would love to represent New Lexington, Ohio.

This experience is going to cost approximately $8,000, and like many other students, I am hoping to fundraise in order to help with costs. The money raised will help to cover all expenses for the trip including transportation, lodging, food, and any other needs for the trip. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity and I am very excited for this experience.
