Help Mason Cole Heal After Tragic Fall

Donation protected
On Tuesday morning, the unthinkable happened for the Cole Family.

It was a typical day of work for Mason and the crew. They were working on a 90,000 square foot roof, with only about 30,000 square feet installed and safety barricaded around all leading edges besides the one the crew had just moved to on the opposite side of the roof. Mason had jumped in from a safe distance away from any falls to help a coworker without getting tied off and made a step backward that none of us will ever forget. There was an area 5’ x 6’ where the insulation was installed but no roof metal was yet placed where Mason had taken a step back to what became a 30-foot fall to the concrete below.

Somehow, by the Grace of God, Mason didn’t shed a tear, he didn’t scream in pain... he just yelled to his father, “I’m okay!! I’m sorry, I’ll be right back up!!” How on earth this young man found the strength in that moment is absolutely unimaginable.

Mason was taken to Centralia Providence and then life-flighted to Tacoma for his injuries, where he has been in ICU for his injuries that the Cole family has continued to learn more about as each day has passed.

Mason has 7 fractures in his back, a shattered pelvis, a shattered elbow, a broken femur, a fractured ankle, bruised lungs and intestines, and they are now running tests to determine if he has normal or internal bleeding due to a loss of blood. As of right now, the doctors have counted 18 broken bones.

We are talking about a 19-year-old who has just begun his life. He graduated high school last year and had completed his lineman schooling at the top of his class and was waiting to begin his career. Mason is talented. He is kind. He can and will make anyone laugh. He is driven in life. He has goals and aspirations. He will give the shirt off his back to anyone in need. Simply put, he is a young man that got up that morning, said goodbye to his girlfriend, and went to work to financially make ends meet like the rest of us.

Mason and his family have a LONG road ahead of them. He has already had surgery on his pelvis and femur, but he still has more surgeries to go. He will have to stay in the hospital for who only knows HOW LONG. Resulting in his family members staying in hotels and the fuel to get up to him each and everyday. The recovery time, and the financial means as to who, what and where will be caring for him full-time is an absolute unknown at the moment. As well as, we have to keep in mind and consider Mason's and the families regular day-to-day bills..

As many of you may know and some may not, the Cole name spreads across almost half our C&C crew. That isn’t to say those of us who don’t share the name don’t share the title “family”. This fall shook our family. As each hour has come and passed and the newest updates on our Mason have come and gone. All we can all say is he is an absolute miracle. How strong and what a blessing he is to be here with us today. While he continues to fight with each passing minute, at some point in time the hurt will hopefully fade, the broken bones will heal and we will have our go getter Mason back. This unbelievable, unimaginable accident is going to take a village to get the Cole family through it. And we are their village!

The Cole family is a staple in our community. They help anyone and everyone in need. And right now, they need all of our help, love, and support.
Mason and his families soul concern should be Mason, his well being and his healing right now.
So as you sit here and read this, please think about that person who has a son, a friend, a nephew, a partner who might work in a blue-collar field. And how this fluke accident could happen to them at any given time. Consider lending a helping hand to a young man who would absolutely do the same for you.
