Help Mason Burton go to college

Donation protected
On September 4th, my younger brother ML (Marvin Jr) passed away unexpectedly at the age of 50. Leaving behind, his 17 year old son, Mason Burton. In August after feeling ill, ML was diagnosed with COVID. After quarantine and being symptom free, he returned to work. However, on September 1st ML became very sick again. On the third day, Mason came home after school to find his Dad on the floor basically unconscious. ML was transported via ambulance to the hospital. He was extremely dehydrated, with a very high temperature and in a lot of abdominal pain. He was not able to speak clearly, slurring and mumbling his words. After several tests and scans, he was found to have a severe bowel infection that resulted in him becoming septic. ML then had a massive heart attack, and although he was able to be revived, he never regained neurological functions and ultimately his organs began to shut down and he passed away. Thankfully, I was able to be present via FaceTime at ML’s bedside, and as support for Mason.

ML had such a kind heart and would give you the shirt off his back, if you were in need, even at the detriment of himself. He chose a hard path in his life and always told Mason that he never wanted him to live the way he did; he wanted better for him. ML never went to college, but his desire was that Mason would. Mason was my brother’s entire world. He said frequently that he was his pride and joy and would never be able to live without him.

With ML’s unexpected passing, there will be many things that Mason will face and experience without having his father there to support and encourage him. I’ve had many people reach out and ask how they can help. One of the ways is to contribute towards this fundraiser to help give Mason a jump start to attend college after he graduates high school next spring.

I look forward to sharing with him all the people who showered him with love by donating for him to achieve the dreams that his Dad would have supported if he had the chance.
