Help Mason & Alec's Big Gay (International) Marriage

We are Mason and Alec, international, trans fiances about to undertake the harrowing journey through immigration and green card acquisition in a world that is actively hostile to us at every turn! This is, as you can imagine, extraordinarily stressful and complicated -- but worth it because we love each other and want to start our lives together! We're genuinely pretty thrilled to look the government in the eyes and explain that we met playing a gay little video game together and to enter some of our Discord chat logs as substantiating evidence!

But because of our circumstances, we don't feel comfortable with the guesswork or lack of personal protection associated with us trying to handle our immigration process on our own and we've opted to hand our case to a lawyer.

Lawyers are really, really expensive! We found an office that is local to Mason in Burbank, California, who is experienced working with queer couples and getting optimal results. She also works with a flat fee: $6000 US Dollars. This, in addition to the several thousand dollars worth of filing fees that go straight to the government, on top of obtaining certified copies of countless documents, mean this process could cost us anywhere between $7000-10000 USD when it's all said and done -- to say nothing of the actual moving process or wedding itself (to be held at a later date when we're not caught in the sinkhole of bureaucracy).

Thankfully, we have ALREADY started this process and paid the retainer fee for our lawyer. The ink is dry on the contract. This is really happening. Now we have the next 8 months or so to raise the rest of the money!

This process is scary! There's a lot of moving parts and there's a lot of plates to keep spinning as wel do it, but We're not deterred -- we're tackling this task one step at a time, and doing our damnedest to not let the crumbling state of the world stop us from living our lives. So this fundraiser is the first many parts of the process that we're undertaking.
